After the withdraw of the ReVolt House Solar Deacthlon Europe announced the replacement very quickly, in 2 days: the Astonyshine team has been officially presented as the new participating team at the Solar Decathlon Europe 2012 Competition. Astonyshine is a project in cooperation of four different universities from both France and Italy:
École des Ponts ParisTech de Paris (engineering)
ENSA Paris-Malaquais (architecture and structural design)
University of Ferrara (solar systems)
Technical University of Bari (architecture)
About the actual building we found one picture so far (below) and as it’s written on Astonyshine’s website it’s mainly about concentrated solar power systems, combining photovoltaics and the thermal ones and they also do reseraches about new technologies in the utlization freestone (thanks to its hygro-thermal advantages) – with the help of a main French company involved in monument restoration and stone masonry, S.N.B.R. .
