On the 1st and 2nd of February we took part in the LED lighting conference at the Universitas Budensis (Óbudai Egyetem) held by the Hungarian Lighting Society for the second time. At the two-day event we heard presentations and visited the exhibitors? stands. On the ground floor besides a beautifully renovated Ford T-model were the companies? stands. Several notable companies represented themselves, like GE Hungary, KT-Electronic, Philips, and Tungsram, just to mention some of them. The first day presentations were mostly theoretical. Firstly Zoltán Kollah highlighted the importance of conscious lighting, spoke about floodlight, and minimization of unnecessary light. Then George Székács presented the opportunities how to use LED in the world of vehicles. He was followed by George Abraham, head of Mechatronics, Optics and Computer Engineering Department, BUTE. His presentation was about the application of LED in connection with railways. Before lunch Csaba Horvath talked about the LED?s chemical compatibility. In the afternoon presentations continued, from we get to know the criteria for the stability of LED, longevity experiments and the regulation of standards. There was a discussion about the AD-powered LED. The day was closed by the presentation of Gábor Kovacs, who presented Dawn spacecraft?s optical testing. On Wednesday came into view the practical side of the event. They presented several completed buildings? lighting; there were a discussion about the LED?s spectrum optimalization; and about the biological effects. The conference was really useful for us, because we have become familiar with the latest lighting trends and opportunities. We found out where we need development, where are some gaps in our project. This knowledge will contribute to successfully design the lighting of the house. Balázs Debrődi
